Why Greenday? Seriously?

Ok. I have a question for you people: Why do people like the band Greenday? I mean, seriously. They're not that great. There are SO many better bands out there. Like... The Postal Service. Or Death Cab For Cutie. Or The Shins, or Visqueen, or The Dresden Dolls.
Please, somebody explain to me what's so fabulous about Greenday, because to be quite frank, I don't really like them.

Greenday is in sinc with my constant rage and love. Jesus of Suburbia has become my lifes anthem at this portion of my life. Don't get me wrong, I listen to other music. My roots within music have a strong punk (3 chords) influence, which could also explain the Greenday. I have never heard Postal Service, or Visqueen. What I've heard of the Shins I didn't really like. Death Cab is better. As for the Dresden Dolls, I heard about them thru your profile. I was able to see one video on MTV Overdrive, and I really liked it. I need to get my hands on some of that. How did you hear about them? what should I get first?
Have you seen them live? There. I hope that gives you a little more insight.

Two of my best friends saw Greenday live and would not shut up about it for about three weeks afterwards. One of the most annoying things EVER.
I heard of The Dresden Dolls through my extremely awesome best friend Zoe, and we have decided that "Girl Anachronism" is the best song on the face of the earth ("Good Day" and "Half Jack" are also awesome.)
I still have to say that Greenday (in my opinion) sucks, for the most part. And The Shins are awesome. But if you're going to listen to some Shins stuff, "Oh, Inverted World" is a better album in my opinion. But, you know, this all a matter of opinion.

no, no, I meant that DC4C was better than what I heard of the Shins! Not better than Green Day! That could never be....

Green Day Rock. Then again I'm an old fart so that's hardly a recommendation I suppose....

You call Death Cab overrated? Seriously, Green Day is like... not that great and everyone acts like they're some kind of god. It's ridiculous. The Dresden Dolls are about 500 times better than Green Day, and they get no appreciation. Or, Le Tigre.
And Death Cab is slightly overrated. Their older stuff is better. And Postal Service is better than that stuff.
Cake is also awesome, along with Save Ferris.

Cake= ok.
Just heard Postal Service....yuck.
Smiths/Yaz rip offs... in my opinion. I needed to listen to some Minor Threat to clear my brain after the Postal fiasco...
Dresden Dolls still okay...
Think it's time we move on from this music stuff...we will never agree...but you know, that's okay.

Your mom listened to Minor Threat in High School? And she puts up with your listening of DC4C and *shudder*
Postal Service? She must own a nice set of those Bose noise cancelling headphones....

Ahem. She likes Death Cab and Postal Service. And The Shins. In fact, she likes a lot of the stuff I like. So does my dad.
So, I suppose you also listen to The Dead Kennedys and The Sex Pistols?
If so, at least you have some relatively good music taste. Aside from the whole Green Day thing...

Sex Pistols? I guess you missed the pic of me wearing the shirt on my blog...

Dead Kennedy's- yes! Saw them twice in concert. Once in high school, once in college just before they broke up.

Does your mom like Husker Du?

Better yet, just forward me the link to your mom's blog...

My mom doesn't have a blog. She's not really much of a computer person.
